“I was raised to always try to be the best version of myself mentally, emotionally, and physically. Now, more than ever, I take care of my body. I eat a healthy, well-balanced diet, sleep at least seven hours a night, drink tons of water, and exercise regularly. I know “perfection” should never be one’s goal because, basically, it doesn’t exist! I try not to overindulge in any one thing, except maybe classical music and the San Francisco 49ers. Since health is a priority, I see my gynecologist, Dr. Sherry, on a regular basis—she reminds me that “strong and healthy” trumps all.”

Healthy body, healthy mind, healthy soul…a healthy V is metaphor for all three. Is the vagina really self-cleaning? –Claudia, age 29
Unfortunately, I always think of an oven when I hear the term “self-cleaning,” and the truth is, while heat is an oven-cleaning friend, it is not for the vagina. A healthy vagina needs the same attention to hygiene as any other part of your body. Regular visits to your gynecologist or healthcare provider should be part of your routine in maintaining a healthy vagina.
