There’s still a lot for us to learn about how hormones work and what can be done when they are out of whack. Even though hormones are the chemical messengers of our bodies, coordinating everything from growth to metabolism and fertility, the thing we women most associate with hormones are the crazy mood swings, followed closely by the fatigue, irritability, and anger (among a whole host of other mental, physical, and emotional changes) that hormonal imbalances may bring. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS),  premenstrual syndrome (PMS), peri-menopause and menopause is discussed in the Hormonal V chapter.
