In my line of work, I have the immense joy of delivering babies, and though I’ve delivered hundreds of them in my decades as an OB-GYN, I’m still awed by their entrance into the world. I’m also acutely aware of the effort and planning and consideration that go with making the decision to have a baby. For most couples, planning a pregnancy is simple: you have sex and—voila!—pregnancy. Unfortunately, that is not the case for many other couples or for single, 35-plus women with excessively loud biological clocks—for some over-forty women, the sound of those clocks is truly deafening.
